Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technology is a series of IEEE 802.1 standards established by the IEEE TSN Task Group based on the second layer of the OSI seven-layer model. TSN technology enables standard Ethernet networks to meet the real-time data transmission requirements of industrial communication networks, such as hard real-time, determinism, and low latency. The Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) technology is a cross-platform machine-to-machine industrial communication protocol standard established by the OPC Foundation based on the application layer of the OSI seven-layer model, providing a common language for communication between different industrial automation machines. The "AXM57104 TSN Development Platform" introduced by ASIX and the "SLP-WHG-TSN TSN Industrial Computer" unveiled by Avalue are developed using ASIX’s AXM57104 TSN Gigabit Ethernet PCIe NIC and Avalue's SLP-WHG fanless industrial computer (IPC), equipped with a high-performance 8th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor and RT-Linux real-time operating system.
The AXM57104 TSN Gigabit Ethernet PCIe NIC supports various advanced TSN functions in compliance with IEEE 802.1 standards, including IEEE 1588V2 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), 802.1AS-Rev/AS timing and synchronization for time-sensitive applications, 802.1Qav time-sensitive stream transmission and queuing, 802.1Qbu frame preemption, 802.1Qbv time-aware shaper, and 802.1CB frame replication and elimination. AXM57104 also supports FPGA hard-core field upgradable via In-Application Programming for TSN standards evolution.
