ASIX Announces Android Java Driver Support for MCS78x0 Series

ASIX Electronics Corp., a leading fabless semiconductor company for embedded networking/bridging solutions, announced today the Android Java driver support for USB to Serial applications. System designers can use MCS78x0 series and write Android applications to connect their Serial RS-232/UART devices to Android host devices like smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.

Using USB Host mode supported in Android 3.1 and higher, an Android application compiled and linked with ASIX’s free Java library can access the USB bus easily and communicate with a MCS78x0 USB device directly. The driver is automatically loaded onto the Android platform without any need for user intervention, including root access, ADK or special kernel drivers. The MCS78x0 series, which includes MCS7810/7820/7840, is a low cost and high performance USB 2.0 to single/dual/quad Serial bridge controller for a wide range of embedded applications.
